If you haven't listened to our first 5 episodes covering Chapters 1 - 10 of THG, you can by clicking right here. 🏹
Here are THG episodes that cover Part II: The Games and Part III: The Victor...
We have officially entered the Games in Chapters 11-13 and a lot happens! We discuss survival strategies, commentators, the gift of water, and even Capitol-ist Games branding that would surely exist. They also explore Gale, Haymitch, Effie, and Cinna's POVs watching Katniss in the arena.
In this THG episode, we discuss the tense, sweet, and thought-provoking things in Chapters 14-16, includes the first prolonged time spent with a tribute's death, the Rue-Katniss alliance, transforming the Capitol's weapons, ableism, and yet another fun Peeta headcanon.
We spend significant time discussing Rue and Ebony Elizabeth Thomas' insightful book The Dark Fantastic (see Britt's video about it below ⬇) during Chapters 17-18. We also explore Katniss' reaction to Rue's death, who really sent the bread from District 11, what other tributes were thinking when they heard the landmines go off, and much more!
A little about The Dark Fantastic:
In this THG episode, we explore Katniss and Peeta's relationship and what must be intense #Everlark shippers in the Capitol. 💘 We also wonder about Thresh's reaction to the new rule change, the motivations of Peeta's mother, the true meaning of generosity, and more!
We discuss Foxface's death, Katniss' thoughts on the word "murder," the Capitol controlling time and space, new insights about the #bestbakerboy, and so much more!
As THG comes to a close, we explore the iconic nightlock moment, the timing of Templesmith's "only one victor can win" announcement, and even the reasons for Katniss shivering. We also spend some important time sitting with how Peeta may have felt about his very public recovery after losing his leg.
In our final THG book episode, we discuss concluding thoughts on the book, looking at new insights the podcast has brought, character spotlights, compelling questions, and narrative threads connecting to the rest of the trilogy and prequel. Expect foreshadowing quotes, subversive love in the arena, and even new thoughts on the Career Districts!
