In this Harry Potter episode, we look at one of the most powerful themes woven into the seven books: defiance. We pay special attention to Harry Defiantest-Boy Potter, methods of defying Dolores Umbridge, and reasons for Voldemort not openly showing defiance while at Hogwarts and before 'officially' returning to the world. We also look at acts of defiance that aren't always recognized as such, including important Hermione, McGonagall, Dobby, Draco, and even Dudley moments!
Since there is just too much amazing content to discuss, we decided on a two-partter. I mean, come on - Order of the Phoenix? A 30-minute episode NOT possible!
We couldn't resist starting the episode off with one of the best quotes of all time. It comes from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and it never ceases to bring a smirk to my face:
Listen to Part I and Part II here:
Now, on to some of the amazing Potterhead fan materials we mentioned in this episode!
(It's so good it could be the happy thought I use for my patronus!)
During Part II, we talk about how badass the 18 year old Regulus is with his defiant note to Voldemort. This is a pretty hilarious take on it:
Also, when we discuss how there definitely should have been more Slytherins openly defying the Voldemort / the Death Eaters throughout the series, Chris brought up this good point:
It is really quite possible that a bunch of Slytherin from all the years were against Voldemort and Harry just didn't notice. #newheadcannon After all, Harry only ever really paid attention to Draco and those involved with his crush...erm, I mean nemesis.
Oh, and since I said I might add in a photo of the Settlers of Catan cookies mentioned in our patron's geeky fact, here it is:
