Courage in The Lord of the Rings

In this week's LOTR episode, we look to Frodo Baggins for beautiful examples of courage and think about what motivates Marry and Pippin to join in the Battle of Minis Tirith with Rohan and Gondor. We also spend time discussing smaller acts of courage throughout the series and don't quite agree on if Gollum showed courage by leaving the Misty Mountains to seek the Ring that Bilbo took.

By the end of the episode, Chris admits that he's a coward and wishes that the epic warriors in the Fellowship had revealed more of their own fears along the way.

We start the episode off with Aragorn's stirring speech at the Black Gates of Mordor:

We of course acknowledge the unfortunate gendered language used. Though, hey, maybe he just knows there will never be a day when the courage of women fails. ^___^

Where else do you see big or small acts of courage in LOTR? We would love to hear your thoughts!

...and until next week - GEEK OUT!
