This week, we tackle the theme of courage in the Harry Potter books (although there is so much in the series, it's honestly more like we just graze the surface!). We ponder if Dumbledore is actually brave, discuss the consequences of rash bravery, and talk about a host of characters, including Severus Snape, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Percy Weasley, and R.A.B.
The recurring theme of the episode is really Harry, though. I gush about him, but I'm not the only one moved by Mr. Potter (our new celebrity). Chris also finds himself falling in love with that green-eyed, messy-haired boy.

We start the episode off with the following Dumbledore quote from the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Speaking to Harry after his experience in the graveyard, the Headmaster says:

The reason we chose this quote is twofold. First, Harry really does show more bravery than anyone could expect from a kid throughout the entire series (mostly for better, but sometimes for worse). Second, Dumbledore's quote goes on to say, "I ask you to demonstrate your courage one more time. I ask you to tell us what happened." We love how the second part of the quote carries recognition of not only obviously courageous acts, but also the bravery involved in putting words to any trauma a person has faced.
